Retrofitting 4–20 mA sensors made easy.

Sentinum continues to expand its Industrial IoT portfolio. With the new AION420, we offer industrial customers a compact LPWAN bridge that acquires existing 4–20 mA signals and makes them available for IIoT applications via LoRaWAN® or mioty®.

Retrofitting based on existing infrastructure

Digitalizing analog measurement points often requires replacing field devices, installing additional sensors or extending the wired communication infrastructure. This can add unnecessary hardware, cabling and commissioning work to an otherwise functional system.

The AION420 provides a targeted alternative. It is integrated directly into the 4–20 mA signal chain, allowing individual measurement points to be upgraded gradually while the existing measurement and control technology continues performing its original function.

AION420 at a glance

  • Two 4–20 mA input channels with 24 V input voltage
  • 2-wire and 3-wire versions
  • Terminated and loop-through configurations
  • Parallel use of the analog signal by the existing PLC
  • Configurable mapping to physical measurement values
  • Configurable limits and alarm transmission
  • Cyclical or event-based data transmission
  • Local configuration via BLE and remote configuration via downlink

Developed for industrial applications

The AION420 can be used on production equipment to acquire values such as hydraulic pressure, coolant temperature, flow or tank level for centralized condition monitoring. In process plants, it supports data acquisition from pumps, pipelines, tanks and other technical assets. It is also suitable for distributed water, wastewater and energy infrastructure, where measurement points are spread across pumping stations, storage facilities or utility networks.

The additional process data can be used for trend analysis, maintenance planning and the early detection of operational deviations.
